Today’s Day of Giving completely exhausted me. At 10:30 this morning I fixed a pot of coffee and got started mixing cookie doughs, frostings, and prepping decoration for all of the holiday treats I intend to give away this year. So today’s Day of Giving is the day that will keep on giving, technically. Although I did manage to give treats to two friends who helped out today, Aparna and Caitlin! Thanks ladies!
This week I intend to give homemade treats to my neighbors and mailman as a little Christmas thank you! Our building is pretty small – there are only four units, and our neighbors are super nice and do things like bring in our packages and look out for each other on all sorts of things. They’re great! And the neighbors downstairs have a totally adorable 10-month old baby girl. She’s super cute. Our mailman is the bee’s knees. Considering the fact that he works for the organization that generally makes me completely stabby with their lack of customer service and common sense, he impresses me fairly often with his impeccable customer service, often confirming things like our vacation schedule so that our held mail gets re-delivered when we get back, and remembering to congratulate us on getting married. It’s pretty impressive.
So today I whipped up four different batches of cookies (snickerdoodle, peanut butter, chocolate crackle, and gingerbread) as well as peanut butter cups (Ian’s favorite), and some Christmas-themed cake pops (everybody’s favorite). I didn’t get to bake the gingerbread yet (totally ran out of steam), but enjoy this eye candy (cookies?) for now:
Some of these will also end up as part of Christmas presents this year, but I don’t think any of those people read my blog, so the surprise is safe! I bet you’re hoping you’re one of those people… but you wouldn’t be since you’re reading this. Hardy har.
Want to Join Me in Giving? Come over and rub my feet. Seriously – they ache after baking all day.
